Chioma Ruky Okotcha

Ruky is a young professional with international experience in Management Consulting, Financial Services and Non-Profit Organizations across multiple countries and is also very passionate about the personal and professional development of Africa and has worked on various leadership, education and community development projects in Nigeria.

Ruky is currently the Regional Manager at Generation Enterprise working with the Lagos-based team and international volunteers to manage small to medium business owners (GEN fellows) to create sustainable jobs and wealth in the local community in Lagos.

In addition to her role at GEN, Ruky volunteers with the Slum to School Project actively working in the ‘Makoko Slum’ area in Lagos to ensure that families are exposed to the need for children to be educated. Some statistics show that over 10 million children are out of school. This is an extremely high number and a lot of the reasons point to lack of funds and awareness of the importance of education. In September 2012, we were able to enroll over 200 children in primary schools.

She also served as a Program Assistant at the Nigeria Leadership Initiative providing a platform for Nigerians to develop and express values-based leadership skills towards development. At NLI, she gained a broad experience in management, project and program planning and development leadership.

Prior to Generation Enterprise and the Slum to School Project, Ruky was a research analyst at the Nigeria Stock Exchange where she worked on the research and analysis of local and foreign markets, industries and trends to provide business logistics in the business development division focused on growing the exchange and moving total market capitalization to $1 Trillion in five years and previously was a management analyst at Whitbread in Dunstable, UK.

Ruky holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Networking [Honors] from University of Bedfordshire, England.
